The GTSM index fluctuated in the month of June. Amid weak investor confidence, the news about Hungary’s debt trouble and the U.S. stock markets hitting new lows in the year, the index fell on most days in the first 10-day period of the month to close at 127.75 on the 9th, the lowest point of the month. After the 10th, as the ECFA issues picked up momentum and large high-tech companies looked favorably on the second half of the year, the index firmed up gradually to close at 135.89 on the 24th, the highest point of the month. But from the 25th on damped by Central Bank’s non-forewarned interest rate hike and tumbling U.S, European and Mainland China stock markets, the index fell four days in a row to close at 130.83 on the 30th. In terms of sector performance, tourism sector turned out better performance, gaining 6.01% for the month, whereas information service sector was the weakest performer, down 8.86% for the month.
